Risk assessment is an important step for an employer to protect his workers and his business, as well as comply with the law. It helps to focus on the risks that really matter in the workplace – the ones with the potential to cause harm. In many instances, straightforward measures can readily control risks, for example, ensuring spillages are cleaned up promptly so people do not slip or cupboard drawers kept closed to ensure people do not trip. For most, that means simple, cheap, and effective measures to ensure that the most valuable asset – the workforce – is protected.
The law does not expect an employer to eliminate all risk, but to protect people as far as is “reasonably practicable”.
Who should attend:
- Plant managers or persons appointed in terms of section 16(2)
- Process managers and Process controllers
- The person assisting with or creating designs
- Project managers (all types of projects)
- Site managers in respect of construction work
- All persons managing contractors
- Supervisors;
- Health & Safety Representatives and other members
- Foreman / Team leaders
